A little about me and my background
I grew up in the film industry in the makeup department and come from a long line of very talented makeup artists.
I have always had a love for the craft of makeup artistry. I think it is safe to assume that it runs in my blood. When I decided to quit school and follow into the family business, I met the amazing Lora Laing (Rockets) who took me under her wing as a hairstylist. Now mind you, I had no real skill doing hair, but found that I had a deep interest in hairstyling. After embarrassingly getting an actresses hair stuck in the blowdryer trying to give her a blowout (my first ever), I decided I could not go on, not knowing what I was doing and decided to get my hair license. It was then that I found my love of hair. Over the last 10 years I have heavily pursued my career in department heading and keying many films as a makeup artist and hairstylist.
My Family History
It all started with my great grandmother Margene Liddiard, who not only held an executive position at Max Factor Makeup, but was head of the makeup department at Warner Brothers Studio. Margene paved our family path into this exciting and artistic world of makeup artistry in film.
Margene was then able to get my great uncle Gary Liddiard (voting member of The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences since 1984) an apprenticeship at Warner Bothers studios as a makeup artist. For most of Gary's career, he has been the personal makeup artist and friend to actor/director Robert Redford (founder of Sundance Film Festival) and has led an impressive film career spanning over four decades.
Gary's son (my cousin) Dennis Liddiard has worked along side Gary as a renowned makeup artist in Hollywood. Dennis received an Oscar nomination for his work in Foxcatcher starring Steve Carell and has worked on many impressive blockbuster films over the years.
My father Richard Taylor was a very talented special effects makeup artist for most of my life. I grew up in a world of fake blood and severed limbs and lived alongside werewolves and demons. Richard later realizing that his true love lied in food so he made the big switch into catering and crafty for film productions.
